3/4D Learning Update

Central idea: Water management can play a role which influences the environment.

This week in our PYP unit of inquiry we have been looking at the building of the Quabbin Reservoir and the impact that this system of water management had on the community that once lived there. We have been reading the story 'Letting Swift River Go' and following the journey of one little girl as their village is destroyed. We have created some powerful persuasive letters, mostly against, targeted at the council men from the city of Boston who proposed the building of the reservoir. We have looked at the environmental and community impact as a result of the councils decision to build the reservoir.

In maths we have continued our work on statistics, interpreting and creating bar charts to represent data and find information. We have then gone on to work with line graphs to present similar information and answer questions based around the information presented.

We have been working hard in science, studying living things and their habitats, creating a pop up book that displays all the information that we are learning about throughout the unit of lessons.
