Central idea: Maintaining peace and resolving conflict can help humans to live harmoniously
We have had yet another fantastic week that has been jam-packed with learning about some amazing topics. For Art Week, we created a piece of artwork that was inspired by the artist 'Shinique Smith,' and was produced through the lens of our inquiries' central idea. For this artwork, the children produced hand-sewn poppies using a variety of materials - they are so proud of their work!
We began our new line of inquiry by thinking about different kinds of conflict and the children produced some creative drama portraying this. It was impressive to see how well they did with the complexities that peace and conflict can have, and how they then presented this. We then thought about poetry, in particular rondeau poems, and we wrote our own thoughtful and emotive poems, in commemoration of soldiers who fought in WW1 and endured life in the trenches.
