Central idea: Water management can play a role which influence the environment
This week we have begun to learn about water management and how this has changed throughout history as ideas and inventions have developed. We recognised that readily available water is not the case in all countries. From this we did a role play where we imagined our water supply was cut off and the local council provided a water tanker in the center of the village which we had to walk to to collect out daily allowance of water. This inspired us to think about countries where this is their everyday situation. We went onto to do a creative piece of writing called 'The long walk to water' about a person in an underdeveloped village who had to walk long distances every day to collect water for their family.
For art week we looked at to painting mediums and techniques. We did a watercolour wash background. We then looked at the technique of pointillism and created some traditional style of clothing. The two were then placed together to finalise our work.
In maths we have begun our unit of work on statistics. We have begun by looking at pictograms and bar charts. We have looked at how to interpret the information given to solve a range of problems.
