Central idea: Children encounter a range of risk, challenges and opportunities.
We had a fantastic (sweaty) time taking part in the sponsored event this week, thank you for all of your sponsorship!
During Art week, we looked at the sculptor Johnson Tsang. We had very mixed views about his artwork but were in agreement that what he created was certainly very clever. We learnt how to draw a portrait, thinking about the position of facial features. We then used a range of crepe paper and foil to create a 'mask' and finished it off by using our sculpting skills with modroc to create a hard and smooth base. We learnt how to colour mix to create our skin tone - who knew that skin tone is created using the primary colours!? We completed our masks by adding our poetry about 'the rights of a child.' We are looking forward to sharing our finished collaborative sculpture during the artweek showcase. We were able to write instructions to show how to make a human looking face out of modroc.
In science we began a new topic of sound. We started by sitting outside with our eyes closed and listening to the sounds that we could hear. Then, we conducted an experiment to see what happened to the sound of a drum when we got further away from it.
The children took their official multiplication tables check on Wednesday and should be extremely proud of themselves for the effort they have put into learning their times tables up to 12x12.
