Central idea: The natural world can be impacted by scientific and technological development.
Inquiry - The children have already gained so much new knowledge through our first line of inquiry. We have defined a rainforest, and then thought about the location and characteristics of a tropical rainforest. They have used their map reading skills to locate the three biggest tropical rainforests, as well as the Equator, Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. We are also working on a writing/art piece, which shows and gives an explanation of the layers of a rainforest.
In science we are learning about living things and their habitats. We have carried out our first lesson about characterisation.
We have covered adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers in our maths lessons. We have learnt to find common denominators by finding the lowest common multiple. We have discovered that we also need to know our times tables for this very important skill too. We can never have enough times tables practise!
