This week in writing, Year 6 truly let their imaginations soar as they focused on character creation. The children have been working incredibly hard on developing compelling and unique as an addition to our core text 'Wonderscape'. We explored descriptive writing, concentrating on how to use varied vocabulary and figurative language (like similes and metaphors) to bring their characters to life.
In Maths, we have kicked off our topic on Fractions! To start, the children have been hands-on, exploring the concept of equivalent fractions. This involved understanding that different fractions can represent the same amount, which is a key foundational skill. Following this, we began learning the important process of simplifying fractions to their lowest terms. Please encourage your child to continue practicing their times tables at home, as this really supports their work with finding common factors and simplifying!
