Ms. Dulude's class of 2nd graders planted carrots seeds out in the garden. They helped till the beds to loosen up the soil for these root veggies and mixed in peat moss for better soil consistency for germination. Carrots can be tricky to sprout because the seedlings are so tender so we covered them with burlap to keep the soil moist. Once the seedlings sprout they will pop up through the holes of the burlap which we will then carefully remove. Below is a photo of the last carrot we removed that was planted last fall and overwintered. Carrots are super hardy veggies!
