Systems Engineering

what is systems engineering?

Students will learn knowledge of how technology works. They will construct solutions to design challenges and reflect on their learning. They will consider how technology has changed the world and future potential changes. They will learn what engineers do, investigate simple machines and Australian inventions and then complete a presentation on an invention. They will learn about robotics and how to control simple robots. The final unit allows students to solve an engineering challenge using the skills they have developed in the previous units and using the design process.

what are the main areas of study at year 7?

Students will undertake the following areas as part of their learning schedule:

  • How do we use simple machines?

  • How do we use robots?

  • How do I solve engineering problems?

how many sessions in a week?

There are 2 sessions scheduled one after another during the week (Double Session)

How many hours of homework is recommended for systems engineering?

All work should be completed within class time. However, some theory work including self evaluation and reflection on the process, practice and practicals may need to be completed at home.
