Accelerated Students

The Accelerated Student Orientation is 3:15-5:15 on May 11th, 2022, in Zoom. Attendance is mandatory.

You will be sent a zoom link closer to the event.

Materials

RN to BS Students

RN to BS students will individually meet with Lindsay Larsen for orientation to the program. Please contact her directly, lindsay.larsen@maine.edu to arrange a Zoom meeting time.

Traditional Transfer Students (over 32 credits)

Students with more than 32 credits, who meet the eligibility criteria, must submit the online Supplemental Transfer Nursing Application, essay, and resume by February 1st for Fall consideration. The eligibility criteria and application guidance for Process 3 can be found on the School of Nursing supplemental content site.

Internal Transfers are current USM students admitted into the program, and are directed to contact the Nursing Advisor, Laurie Lentz, to schedule a required one-hour Nursing Orientation.

External Transfers are students who are transferring to USM as a newly admitted student. These students are directed to complete the admissions process and will have a 1.5 hour advising meeting with Laurie Lentz. The Nursing Orientation is part of the 1.5 hour advising meeting.

Traditional Change of Major Students (32 credits or less)

Students must meet the criteria in process 2 in order to change their major to nursing. The eligibility criteria and guidance for Process 2 can be found in the School of Nursing supplemental content site. on this website. Records are reviewed when all relevant grades are posted. Students who meet the nursing criteria will receive a "Welcome to Nursing" email from the Nursing Advisor, Laurie Lentz. The welcome email guides the student to register for a required one-hour nursing orientation. The change of major will not be processed until after the orientation is completed. Students who do not meet eligibility criteria, will continue to work with their present advisor.

Freshman Admitted Directly To Nursing

Freshman who are admitted directly to the nursing major will schedule a 1.5 hour Advising and Course Selection Meeting in the summer before they begin the program. First year students will meet with Laurie Lentz or Jennifer Major who advise admitted nursing majors.
