Description:  The level 1 Italian class is an introductory course which is offered to students who may be studying this language for the first time or did not pass the grade 8 final exam with a 65 or better and/or did not pass middle school Italian 1 with a 65 or higher.  Students will develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and learn a broad array of vocabulary in the target language.  Italian is presented in culturally relevant situations so that students become acquainted with the civilization, lifestyle and customs of the target culture.  Students in the graduation class of 2005 and after must pass a language course to be eligible for a high school diploma.
