Description: This course examines human history (excluding US history) from roughly 10,000 BCE to 1750 CE. It organizes the history of human beings chronologically and regionally. Multiple general themes exist in this course, including the following: geography and its impact on human and societal development, the role of religion in societies, and interaction between peoples and the effects of those interactions.

Description: This is a global history course organized around the themes of world history, geography, and economics. Specific units of study include the rise of classical civilizations, the rise and fall of great empires, the emergence and spread of belief systems, feudalism in Europe and Asia, encounters (global trade and interaction), renaissance, reformation, the rise of nation states and absolute monarchies. Honors level work differs from Regent’s level work in that it involves learning more content and going into greater depth. The course requires ample reading, vocabulary, and analysis of primary source documents, as well as charts, graphs and political cartoons. Students are expected to actively participate and write in a coherent manner commensurate with their honors placement.
