Program Description
MATHEMATICS
The Mathematics Department offers courses to meet all aspects of mathematics study and applications, depending upon the abilities and needs of the student. The goal of the Mathematics Department is to have students develop an understanding and application of our numeric system as it applies to a variety of real life situations.
Graduation Requirements for Regents Diploma: Students must earn three credits of mathematics. Students must pass one New York State Regents Examination in mathematics as a student in high school.
Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation: Students must earn three credits of mathematics. Students must pass the three New York State Regents Examinations as listed below:
Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II Common Core Regents Exams.
Technology Requirement: The mathematics department encourages all students to purchase a TI-84 graphing calculator upon entering high school. Teachers will incorporate technology-based labs into their lessons whenever possible. Graphing calculators are required for most courses, Regents Examinations, and AP Examinations in mathematics.
