ALGEBRA I - 03106 - 1 CREDIT *
Prerequisite: Passing grade in math 8

Description: This course allows students to dive deeply into algebra. This curriculum is rigorous and includes a large variety of topics such as relationships between quantities and reasoning with equations and their graphs, descriptive statistics, linear and exponential functions, polynomial and quadratic expressions, equations and functions, and a synthesis of modeling with equations and functions. Students will prepare for the Common Core Algebra Regents which will be taken at the completion of the course. The math department encourages all students to own a TI-84 plus graphing calculator, as it is integrated throughout the course and it is required for use on the Regents Exam. This course is a requirement for graduation.
ALGEBRA SUPPORT LAB - 03106- E ½ CREDIT
Prerequisite: Currently enrolled in Algebra I
Credit: Elective
Description: This lab provides an opportunity for students to develop a deeper and more thorough understanding of the course content through new and unique learning experiences. Students will apply the content and skills that they have learned to practical and real-world scenarios. Through participation in these labs, students will develop and strengthen the skills that will lead to a strong foundation in the course.
ALGEBRA I A - - 1 CREDIT *

Description: This course allows students to dive deeply into algebra and get a good foundation of mathematics. Students will prepare for the Common Core Algebra Regents which will be taken the following year at the completion of the course Algebra 1B . The Algebra 1A curriculum is the first half of topics from Common Core Algebra 1. This curriculum is rigorous and includes a large variety of topics such as Algebraic Expressions, Systems of Equations Solving Equations , Real Number Systems, Graphing Inequalities, and Factoring.
Students with a failing grade in Math 8 will be placed into Algebra 1A. This course is a requirement for graduation.
