Description: This course is designed to take concepts from Algebra, expand upon them and apply them to real world situations. Emphasis will be placed on the study of functions, and their graphs, including: inequalities, linear, quadratic, exponential, square root, cubic and cube root, absolute value and piecewise. Appropriate applications will be included along with the integration and application of technology. A variety of topics from Geometry will be incorporated and applied into the Algebra curriculum as well. Students will take the Algebra I Common Core Regents in January and if necessary, in June.

The instruction will be rigorous and the pace will be challenging. All students will take the Geometry Common Core Examination. ADVANCED ALGEBRA - 03305 - 1 CREDIT

This course builds on algebra skills as well as appropriate sections of statistics, geometry, and trigonometry, representing a solid mathematics course for students in their third year of math. The course is designed to hone further the mathematical skills of students. It also serves to extend and improve critical thinking skills in a manner compatible with the Common Core State Standards at the Commencement Level. This course will culminate with a local final exam in June. This course is NCAA approved.

The intent of this course is to develop a student’s mathematical reasoning ability in problem solving. A graphing calculator is a course requirement. This course ends in a Regents examination. Successful completion of this course should prepare a student for more advanced math classes such as pre-calculus.

The intent of this course is to develop a student’s mathematical reasoning ability in problem solving. The pace of this course is fast and the material is explored in depth. A graphing calculator is a course requirement. This course ends in a Regents examination. Successful completion of this course should prepare a student for more advanced math classes such as pre-calculus.
