This is the last section of the Syllabus, the Search for Peace and Security in the World, and focuses on the following dot points
the ambitions of Germany in Europe and Japan in the Asia-Pacific
the intentions and authority of the League of Nations and the UN
There is also information on how to revise for this section. Ensure you read through it and familiarise yourself with how to approach this section.
An overview of the search for peace and security 1919–1946:
the ambitions of Germany in Europe and Japan in the Asia-Pacific the intentions and authority of the League of Nations and the UN
As an overview question again we can reasonably assume that questions will stick to lower mark ranges and mostly avoid asking about really specific areas of content.
Note however there are distinct (and not particularly related) areas of content to include in your notes within this dot point. So you would need notes on:
The ambitions of Germany in Europe (Grossdeutch/Lebensraum)
The ambitions of Japan in the Asia-Pacific region (Japanese empire, resources, removing Western imperial influence, etc)
The intentions (goals/purpose) of the League Of Nations and its authority (or lack there of)
The intentions (goals/purpose) of the UN and its authority, at the creation anyway given that this topic finishes in 1946.
What sort of questions should you prepare for?
Slap a describe or outline directive at the front of each of the content areas listed above and you have a solid start for determining depth of responses.
Alternatively for 6 marks we have “Describe similarities between the ambitions of Germany in Europe and Japan in the Asia-Pacific” (HSC Sample questions 2018)
