Albany State University

Originally founded by a former slave as a religious school. In 1917, it became a state institution and in 1932, became a part of the University System of Georgia. In 2017, it consolidated with Darton State College.
Hinds Community College at Utica

Hinds is the largest community college system in Mississippi with six campuses. Utica Junior College merged with Hinds System in 1982. It is located in rural Mississippi, south of the town of Utica.
Bethune-Cookman University

Founded by the pioneer educator Mary McLeod Bethune in Jacksonville, Florida as a girls school. In 1923, it merged with the all-boys Cookman Institute and moved to Daytona Beach.
