Carding mill Valley trips

Our Year 7 and 8 students had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Carding Mill Valley during July. The boys got to explore the valley, learning about flora and fauna of the hills. All the students did LBS proud, showing such an interest in the scenery and nature around them.

This was a unique experience for our students to visit a picturesque Shropshire, which is also part of the National Trust. Our students walked approximately 8 km over 3 hours, over high hills, through winding valleys and even beside a stunning waterfall. They learnt about the different wildlife, streams and flowers, asking inquisitive questions that our guides were more than happy to answer.

Our students were so grateful for this visit, some stating they have never been out of Birmingham before and they had been looking forward to this all week.

This group of Y7/8 students were a credit to our school, greeting every person they saw with "Morning, how are you? I hope you have a good day". One of the local residents (who is known to be hard to please) even came out of their house to ask which school we were from as even though they "had met over a hundred schools, we have the politest children they have ever met"!

Here are some quotes from the students about the trip, we hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

Kalil: "Wow, I can't wait to go up that mountain!" / Omar: "This was the best trip I've ever been on" / Samuel: "This unexpected experience blew my mind!" / Faris: "Please can we stay longer?" / Hammad: "This was the best day of my life!"

The feedback we recieved from the Carding Mill Valley staff was exceptional, and proves what excellent ambassadors the boys were for our school:

"They have been a real credit to themselves and your school. All groups were enthusiastic giving their full attention and effort into the experiences our guides led them through. Their levels of understanding and enquiry were excellent, asking challenging questions and providing sound interpretations of their views."

Many thanks to Bobby, Ms Lowndes-Ford, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Kang and Miss Sandhu for making the trips such a wonderful experience for the boys to remember.
