literacy highlights

It is fantastic to continue to share with you the enthusiasm and passion with which our students embrace literacy and reading. It is remarkable to see students absorbed in their reading at different times of the day but especially at lunchtime and to listen to them talk about their books is wonderful. It is with great pride that students line up to collect their 150 badges and beam with excitement upon receiving them.
We now have 107 bronze, 52 silver, 27 gold, 12 platinum and 5 diamond badges earned across Y7 to Y10. This is extraordinary! Here at LBS, we read more, this is 100's of books read by our students in just one term. Just stunning!
In 2017, when we started our literacy journey, the library was in an isolated area of the school with few students that visited. Look at where we are now. It is great to see ALL students have access to the library and the 100s of books available. We have requests for books from our most reluctant readers and it is a pleasure to support them and bring them aboard this incredible journey.
