I look forward to sharing the details from this consultation in my blog on Friday 23 June.

Sport fixtures and training schedules for week beginning 12 June 2023

Weekly sports round-up from Mr Janes, Director of Sport

Talented Athlete Programme (TAP)

Students have now participated in three TAP Seminars, with the focus on the sessions around Self-Reflection, Standards and Dedication. The sessions challenge the students to really analyse in detail the components of Elite Athletes, whilst applying these principles to their own training and performance. Students will further their understanding of Sports Psychology over the next few weeks.

Year 9 Birmingham Schools' Cup Final

Our Year 9 ESA Football Team will face Bishop Challoner next Wednesday, the 14th of June at the Hayes Football Club - Kick Off 2:30 PM. The team have done brilliantly to reach this stage and are looking forward to the challenge and the prospect of a League and Cup double.

Cricket Fixtures

Mr Preece and Mr Deeks oversaw the Year 8 and 10 Cricket Teams on Tuesday evening as they hosted St George's school. Both schools competed with integrity and desire, with both games finishing very close. Further league fixtures will be published shortly.

Primary Engagement

We are looking forward to hosting Summerfield Primary School next Friday as we welcome 52 Year 5 students. Students will participate in Sport and Music seminars, as well as having a late breakfast at the school and receiving a tour. We are very proud of the Primary opportunities that we offer our local feeder schools in order to support the all important transition to secondary school.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PE KIT FROM MR DEEKS, LEAD PROFESSIONAL OF PE

Dear Parents,

As you are aware at Lordswood Boys’ School we set extremely high standards, both with uniform and PE kit.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you and your son of what they need to bring for every PE lesson:

If your son does not bring his full PE kit then he will serve a 1 hour detention on the same evening. This sanction will be enforced from Monday 12th June

If your son is currently missing any of his PE kit, can you inform us by writing a note in his planner. You can replace the kit on the school’s uniform supplier’s website. The address can be found below.

It is compulsory for your son to have either astro boots or astro trainers as normal sports trainers will damage the astro turf. An image of what these look like can be found below. We recommend using Sports Direct as they offer best value for money.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on my email address -

j.deeks@lordswoodboys.co.uk

Kind regards

Mr J Deeks

Lead Professional of PE

Music schedules for week beginning 12 June 2023

Weekly music round-up from Mrs Lowndes-Ford, Director of Music

Year 9 Music Helpers

It was an absolute joy to have three year 9 students on Monday and Thursday of this week giving up some of their lunchtime to support the Year 7 music classes. Thank you to Jamie, Demarco and Adam.

The images clearly show some great interaction between the year 7 students and our year 9 student helpers who were really helpful during the current ukulele song writing topic.

Practice Rooms

A reminder that our music practice rooms are available for students to book every day from 8am. Students must ensure that they have booked the room with one of our Music Ambassadors who are on duty before they enter the room. Please return all equipment into the correct place and tidy the room before you leave.

Music Lessons for September 2023

Students who are interested in starting to learn an instrument or who would like continue with their instrumental lessons from next September are being provided with information packs and application forms over the course of the next few days.

If you would like your son to start lessons in September, I would appreciate it if you would complete, sign and return the forms to myself by Monday 19th June.

You can return these by either handing to your son, returning to main reception or by emailing me at m.lowndes@lordswoodboys.co.uk

I hope you have a good weekend and I look forward to updating you with more news next week. Until then you can always contact me directly at: l.williams@lordswoodboys.co.uk
