Welcome to my weekly blog and I hope you and your families are well.

On Thursday this week we launched our 12 Days of Christmas event in school. On the first day of Christmas Lordswood gave to the students a free cup of hot chocolate at break time. As you can imagine, this gift was received with beaming smiles as students huddled around the tables in the Refectory to drink their Winter warmer.

Todays gift is for all Classchart points awarded to be DOUBLED!

You can keep up-to-date with the daily gifts via our Facebook page. If you do not already follow the page you can do so by clicking the link below.

Additionally, parents/carers will be sent an email later today outlining a few details of what is to come from the 12 Days of Christmas event to ensure you can prepare appropriately.

Year 11 Mock Exams and school reports

The Year 11 students complete their final mock exam today and are being rewarded for their superb attitudes and effort with an early finish. Well deserved.

Thank you to the parents/carers of Year 11 students for your support during the last two weeks and I'm sure you are as excited as the students to receive the results before we break up for the Christmas holiday.

In addition to this, all other year groups will receive their Autumn term reports before we break up for the Christmas holiday too.

An example of the report card can be seen below.

The End of Term report card provides parents/carers with useful information regarding how well your son is making progress in his lessons. Parents/Carers should be aware that in Year 8-11, students are graded against GCSE descriptors and target grades throughout each year are derived from end of Key stage 4 targets. An example of what this progress trajectory looks like is shown in the Flightpath below.

You can use the Flightpath illustration above to understand your son's end of Year 11 target which will be based on his KS2 entry score. Therefore, a student that enters the school with a KS2 score between 92-96 will typically have an end of year 11 target grade, in most subjects, of a grade 4. You can then track this back across the 3 assessment entry points for each year (E=Easter and C=Christmas) to understand what level he should be at for each waypoint.

Should you have any questions regarding the information above or wish to discuss your son's report card, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Christmas Concert 2022

We are very excited to see the students and staff performing.
