EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES & EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES

Having only been in school for four days this week, the week has passed by at a pace. Nevertheless, progress has continued in true LBS style and many achievements have been made by our students. Importantly, attendance remains high at LBS, and last week the whole school attendance was 96.5%.

I would like to remind parents and carers how important it is that your son is in school, on time, everyday. You will be aware that we follow-up all absences with daily calls home and make no excuse in perusing this rigorously. The illustration below outlines the importance of attendance. Equally, it is proven (as you would expect) that the more days your son is absent from school the lower his achievement is likely to be.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Many of you will have already been listening to your son talk about his participation in our extensive extra-curricular programme at LBS. It has been a pleasure to watch and hear the staff discuss the positive engagement at these clubs and we want to encourage more students to participate where possible.

The information in the link below outlines when and where the extra-curricular events take place - most are free to attend and when there is a cost involved we will write to you directly. We will also update you with any new events that are added to the programme as the year progresses.

I would appreciate your support in encouraging your son to 'get involved' with as many extra-curricular activities as possible as these opportunities provide many different social, academic and physical experiences.

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES

Finally, next Monday, 26th September, we will celebrate the European Day of Languages.

Many events will be taking place around school all week and specifically, the lunch menu on Monday will be amended to celebrate the day. The menu choices for Monday can be seen below:

Greece

Lamb/Vegetable Moussaka

Served with Greek potatoes or Greek salad

Germany

Chicken Schnitzel served with vegetable rice

Italy

Meatball / Mozzarella, tomato and basil panini

This menus will replace to normal menu for the day.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents/carers that we break-up for the October half-term on Friday 14th October, and as published on our school term dates, we have a two week half-term break. We return to school on Monday 31st October. During the second week, Monday 24th October to Friday 28th October, there is a Football Camp running at school. You can find the details for this by clicking here.

As always, please call us on 0121 464 2837, leaving a message if lines are busy, and we will support you.
