Joining a NEW multi academy trust

Welcome to this exclusive announcement pertaining to our formal exploration of joining the esteemed Inspiring Lives Education Trust.

As many of you may have gleaned from our recent informal dialogues, the governing body of Lordswood Boys' School is actively deliberating the prospect of affiliating with a new multi-academy trust, namely the Inspiring Lives Education Trust (ILET). The rationale behind this potential move, along with comprehensive information regarding the Trust itself, can be found in the detailed resources and links provided below.

Moreover, we are eager to engage with you in a more structured manner to delve deeper into this matter and to ascertain your perspectives through the survey link below.

To facilitate this process, we have organised a series of events spanning the next twelve weeks, each designed to foster discussion and provide clarity on our considerations. You are cordially invited to participate in these events by utilising the booking links provided below. The schedule for these events is outlined below for your convenience:

Outcomes & responses from the 3 face-2-face events dated above:

The following points provide an overview of the keys concerns and positives from our discussions:

Main discussion themes:

Leadership: Initial concerns arose among parents regarding the potential departure of the current leadership team upon the school's integration into ILET. A predominant worry expressed by parents was the prospect of Mr. Williams not being actively involved in the leadership or executive roles within the school under the umbrella of ILET or any other larger Multi-Academy Trust (MAT). The sentiment conveyed was that Mr. Williams played a pivotal role in their confidence and satisfaction with the school's direction. Once the concerns were addressed, and a comprehensive leadership structure was outlined, parents and carers found reassurance that the existing leadership team would remain unchanged.

Finance: Inquisitive parents and carers sought clarification on the financial implications and resource strain associated with joining a larger MAT. Their concerns revolved around understanding potential differences in financial management and how such changes could impact their son's learning experience. Transparent communication on this matter was crucial in alleviating apprehensions and fostering a better understanding of the financial dynamics that may accompany the transition.

Curriculum: Parents and carers expressed a keen interest in ascertaining whether the current curriculum, which they view favourably, would undergo any alterations. Specifically, they appreciated the diversity offered by the existing curriculum and highlighted satisfaction with recent additions such as Performing Arts and Dance at Key Stage 3. Receiving assurance that the curriculum would not narrow down was essential for maintaining the positive perception of the educational offerings.

Collaboration: Parental curiosity extended to understanding the potential benefits of future collaborations resulting from the school's integration into a larger MAT. Parents and carers were particularly interested in how such collaborations would enhance their son's educational experience, emphasising the importance of collaborative efforts for a well-rounded and enriched learning environment.

• Future Stability: Concerns regarding the long-term stability of the school were a focal point for parents and carers. They sought a comprehensive understanding of how becoming part of a larger MAT would contribute to securing the school's future. Clear communication on the strategic advantages, shared resources, and collective support that being part of a larger MAT could provide played a crucial role in addressing these concerns and fostering confidence in the school's continued stability and growth.

It is essential to emphasise that, throughout the entire engagement strategy, there has been no instance of inquiries arising regarding the faith aspect of ILET. Parents, carers, and the community are firmly aware that Lordswood Boys' School will persist in its status as a 'Community School'.
