WINTER WARMER

Welcome to my weekly blog and I hope you and your families are well.

On Wednesday evening we held our annual Christmas Concert and what an evening it was. Thank you to those parents that joined us and enjoyed the event. I think it is fair to say that everyone left feeling proud and filled with joy after watching and participating with such an inclusive and diverse set of performances. Seeing the students grow in confidence and skill over the last few weeks has been an absolute privilege and to see all of their hard work and determination come to a finale was nothing short of outstanding.

We will be sharing a short video summary in the next few days, so please keep an eye on our YouTube and social media channels, but for now, here are a few pictures from the evening.

SANTA DASH 3

One video that is ready to watch and is going viral as we speak is SANTA DASH 3.0. For those parents/carers that have yet entered into the 'Grime' scene to fully appreciate the phenomenon that is Santa Dash, please take a moment or two to watch version 3.0 below. You can also use the links below to revisit Santa Dash 1 and 2.0.

CHOIR MAKER

Year 7 students visited the Birmingham Symphony Hall on Thursday this week to take part in the Choir Maker event arranged in Birmingham. The students worked with the team and other schools from across the region as they start their journey in forming a new multi-school choir.

The boys were a true credit to the school and thoroughly enjoyed the event from start to finish.

Weekly round-up - Sport Provision at LBS

Mr Deeks oversaw three Basketball Fixtures this week, demonstrating the outstanding opportunities that students are provided with.

Y8 Basketball vs Queensbridge

Lordswood won 22 - 6. Outstanding performances from Terrell Ricketts and Usman Iqbal. Mr Spicer, an Assistant Head Teacher from Queensbridge, praised our students after for their ability but more importantly their politeness to him and the respect they showed towards the opposition.

Y10 Basketball vs Starbank

Lordswood won 48 - 12. A very good performance from the boys'. Outstanding performances from Jacob Nnija and Falilou Mbengue. Once again, the boys had praise from the opposition's teacher, for how they showed respect to the opposition and how some of our boys were trying to help the other players improve their Basketball skills.

Y8 Basketball vs KE Camp Hill

Camp Hill won 30 - 6. A tough game for our boys but they showed great spirit throughout the game against a very good, athletic team.

We had 42 Year 7 boys train on Wednesday night and 16 Year 9 last night in the freezing temperatures.

Another solid and well rounded week of sport at LBS. Thank you to parents/carers that continue to support your son/s with there interests in sport.
