Half-term round-up

Welcome to my weekly blog. It was wonderful to see so many Year 7 and 10 parents at our first parents evening of the year yesterday. Thank you for attending and I hope you found the conversations with your son's teachers useful and informative. As always, should you have any further questions or need to get in touch with us, you can find the contact details for all staff by clicking here.

Sport fixtures and training schedules for week beginning 31st October 2022

During my conversations with parents yesterday, a number of you mentioned that you would find it helpful if the sport fixtures and training sessions where added to my blog so you can see when your son/s are involved with these activities on weekly basis. Parent/Carer survey

At the end of each half-term we collect the views of parents/carers based on a full range of school matters. The questions we ask typically depend on the time of year, for example, at the end of half-term 2 we will ask questions regarding your son's progress report and your views on his interaction with homework etc. However, towards the end of half-term 4 we will ask questions regarding his participation in extra-curricular activities and his engagement with revision materials in readiness for his end of year exams. The first survey of the year is typically a general 'school life' survey and I would be very grateful for your participation in completing the survey by clicking here. We will respond to any points that require individual follow-up once all returns have been made. Similarly, we will respond to more wider points drawn from your feedback via our normal parent/carer communications and via my weekly blog.

Thank you in advance for completing the survey. As always, we value each and every piece of feedback.

Year 11 Debate Macbeth

Year 11 students have been debating the motion that 'Macbeth was responsible for his own downfall' as they have been studying the play this half term. They discussed how Macbeth was manipulated by supernatural influences and was controlled by fate as this was a huge belief in Jacobean times. This was countered by the ideas that it was Macbeth's own hamartia and greed that caused him to commit the sin of regicide and continue killing on his own quest for power. Students really showcased their knowledge throughout the debate by countering difficult questions from the audience! A great way to round-up their learning this half-term. Well done boys.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents/carers that we break-up for the October half-term today, Friday 14th October, and as published on our school term dates, we have a two week half-term break. We return to school on Monday 31st October.

During the early stages of next half-term we will be focused on the preparation for our Remembrance service which will take place on Friday November 11th. You can catch-up with our previous Remembrance videos by clicking here.

During the second week, Monday 24th October to Friday 28th October, there is a Football Camp running at school. You can find the details for this by clicking here.
