Proactive Y10s book an appointment BEFORE year 11 starts
In Year 7, you've got a lot of new experiences to try, so don't worry too much about your future career yet. However, remember that you are here for a purpose, which is to get a good education that will make it possible for you to get a good job one day.
When you leave Year 11, you still have to continue your education. You will be able choose between a sixth form (Year 12 and 13), a college, or an apprenticeship. All three routes are good ones and can lead to good careers. The choice depends on what you want to do, and how you like learning. You will learn more about these choices as your progress up the academy.
Lord Grey students have gone on to some amazing and interesting careers. We have doctors, RAF pilots, engineers, nurses, dentists, artists, police officers, mechanics, teachers, hotel managers, physiotherapists, social workers, soldiers, paramedics, ethical hackers, and many, many more. What will you be? Let us know in the short questionnaire at the end of this page - it's ok if you change your mind! We are just interested in what our youngest students want to do.
We hold regular career assemblies on a variety of different topics. We have heard from a physiotherapist, a detective chief constable, a rail engineer, a paramedic, a midwife, a prison officer, a teacher, a nurse . . . there is almost no limit to the people we can invite in to talk to you.
The assemblies are advertised on SharePoint, the careers calendar on the event page here, through your tutor groups, and posters around the school. Everyone is welcome to attend, but you must register to secure your place - no just turning up on the day.
You're very welcome to come along to some of the career events if they interest you, and if you would like to talk to me, you can make an appointment by clicking the button at the top of the page, or by coming to the careers centre in the 6th form block. However, you will find the appointment more useful in Year 10 or 11.
I am always interested in what you would like to be one day, so please take a few moments to fill in the form below.
