Employability Skills

You might know that you're good at English, or great at Art. But what about other skills - are you a good listener? Is it you that always organises friends' birthday presents? Does your Dad always ask you how to download apps?

These all include skills too - maybe you didn't realise that leadership involves empathy and being able to really listen, project management means being organised, and IT skills require a logical way of thinking. These are among the skills really prized by employers - we call them Employability Skills. Sometimes you'll hear them referred to as transferable skills, and that's because no matter what job you do, these skills are required everywhere.

Unifrog and Career Pilot both have lots of ways for you to find out what skills you have already and Unifrog also has free online courses (MOOCs) to help you develop others. Part time work, volunteering, sports, and hobbies are also ways to learn.
