SEND

If you have special education needs, or a disability, maybe some of the options on these pages are a little daunting to you. Don't feel left out, there are plenty of options for you to choose from as well.

College inclusive learning

Firstly, MK College has a number of inclusive learning courses, which are available to students who have an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP). These courses cover the subjects animal care and horticulture, retail, catering and hospitality as well as a course in independent living, employability skills, work to learn, and the New Horizons course, which helps you develop a range of life skills before moving on to other courses or a supported internship.

Find out more about inclusive learning by telephoning 01908 684155 or email ineedsupport@mkcollege.ac.uk

MK College is not the only option. All colleges will have some support for SEND students. Find out about the support offered by Northampton College here and Bedford College here.

Traineeships

A traineeship is a skills development programme, including a work placement, to help young people get ready for an apprenticeship if they don't have the necessary skills yet. Traineeships may be as short as 6 weeks, or can last as long as a year, although most are about 6 months in length.
