Proactive Y10s book an appointment BEFORE year 11 starts
In Sixth Form, you may be on a one year level 2 course, or a two year level 3 course. At the end of either of these, you may be planning further study. Level 2 students may be hoping to move on to level 3 in a sixth form or in college, or they may decide to apply for apprenticeships. Level 3 students may be planning to go to university, apply for a degree apprenticeship, or start work.
The careers information you receive will address all of these options. By now, you should be seasoned users of Unifrog, and have several career/course options saved. You are all still very welcome to have a 1:1 careers appointment, which you book in the same way as the rest of the school - simply ask Joanna for one.
Universities will be holding open days, and you really should attend the ones for the universities you are applying to. A tour round may change your mind. In the summer holiday between Year 12 and Year 13, there will be many summer school places available. Attendance at a summer school, taster sessions, and sample lectures are all excellent material for your personal statement.
In July, there is a Destinations Day for Year 12. Guests from Amazing Apprenticeships, as well as a local university, come into the Academy to talk to you. Mr Hoggard will also ask you to set up your UCAS accounts ready for university applications at the start of Year 13.
An important took once you enter the world of work will be LinkedIn.
