Proactive Y10s book an appointment BEFORE year 11 starts
Every student should think about what they want to do one day. You will be working until your mid to late 60s, which means about 50 years after you can leave school. You need to be doing something that you enjoy and that you think is worthwhile.
To help you with this, the careers programme in Lord Grey follows a path that builds upon the previous year. In Year 7, you are settling into senior school, and learning how to study in a more grown-up way. There will be career information in your lessons from time to time, and career games and activities on special days throughout the term.
In Year 8, your formal careers education begins with finding out about your "soft" skills and how you can use them in the world of work. In Year 9, the focus is on choosing your GCSEs. Students in these year groups, key stage 3, will find the Career Pilot website very useful and informative.
In key stage 4, you are given a Unifrog account, which will help you to formalise some of the dreams you had when you were younger, by showing you what you need to do to get there. Take advantage of the many career tools in Unifrog, because it will really help you take the next steps in your lives. Year 10, you are encouraged to start considering further and higher education, and in Year 11, it's time to turn your plans into action.
If you join our Sixth Form, career education will focus much more on finding jobs, acing interviews, and applying for universities and degree apprenticeships.
Every year group has its own page on this site, giving more information.
