0234 AP European History (1 Credit - Advanced Placement)
Prerequisites: A final grade of 85 or better in US History or AP US History and proficient performance on Global History Regents Exam. Prior passing grades in social studies necessary to enroll. Completion of summer writing assignments. Students requesting this course must meet with the instructor in June. Extensive writing is expected in the course so that the student will be able to write document based essay questions, an integral part of the Advanced Placement exam.
AP European History is a dynamic course designed to survey Western Civilization from the Renaissance through the end of the Cold War. This course is offered to selected students of proven academic ability in the field of Social Studies. Students taking this course must take the Advanced Placement examination in May (fee required). Colleges may grant credit to students performing successfully on this test. The syllabus for this course has been approved by the College Board's Advanced Placement audit. For an additional fee, students have the option to take this course for three college credits through the Suffolk County Community College’s Beacon program.
