Round brackets enclosing italic material should be set in italics. Both opening and closing brackets must be in the same typeface (format) as the enclosed text. This means, for example, that italicised practicalities following a POI name (such as a website address and entry fees) should be enclosed in italicised brackets. If there is a mix of styles within the brackets (eg roman map refs and italicised URL), the parentheses should be roman.

Italicise commas, colons and semicolons where they follow an italicised word.
Shakespeare wrote Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello among other tragedies.
Do not italicise question marks or exclamation marks unless part of the italicised title or expression.
Whatever you do, do not order shé ròu!
If a word in italics has a possessive ending, the apostrophe and ‘s’ are also formatted with italics.
