NARRATIVE REPORT
Our group of teacher assistants were given an opportunity to help our Cooperating Teacher (CT) with her tasks for the portfolio day on February 09, 2024 with regards to the presentation of cards and certificates to her advisory class, the Grade 7 Aquamarine students. We arrived at Leyte National High School at exactly 8:30 AM to prepare the room for the activity, by 9:00 AM we were already monitoring the attendance of the parents and students as they arrived one by one to the classroom of Grade 7 Aquamarine. Our CT assigned us to present a short seminar that day for Proper Waste Management in front of the parents and students of Grade 7 Aquamarine. Each of us were given an opportunity to talk in front and our presentation lasted for thirty (30) minutes, afterwards our CT took over and proceeded to a meeting with the students’ parents about their learners’ performance in school, highlighting students who have difficulty with earning passing grades in subjects (like Math and MAPEH), as well as those students who often make absences. Afterwards, the giving of certificates commenced, the achievers for the 2nd quarter were recognized and given certificates (that we made as per the request of our CT). The parents and students together with Ma’am Docil had a photo opportunity with our assistance. Then the parents were handed by our CT a copy of the 2nd quarter grades of their learners. This served as an opportunity for the parents to check their children’s performance in school.
Time was allotted for the parents to raise questions to our CT, one concern raised was the students’ lacking grade in MAPEH, to which Ma’am Docil responded by informing them that the subject teacher is already to give the grades of the students as soon as possible within the current (3rd) quarter. Soon after, our CT left the room for urgent concerns and us teacher assistants helped entertain the parents and students by having a game called “Tumpakners” where the students will pair up and try to give the same answer for a particular category. This lasted for about fifteen (15) minutes before lunch time came. We assisted in distributing food and drinks to the parents and making sure that everything was clean and orderly. After, we helped the students clean up and at exactly 1:00 PM we were dismissed by our CT.
