NARRATIVE REPORT
In a recent intervention session conducted with the Grade 7 Amber English class, the primary focus was on vocabulary enrichment and the development of speaking skills. Upon observation, it became evident that many students struggled with a limited English vocabulary and faced challenges in expressing their thoughts effectively in English. To address this issue, a series of activities were designed to target these areas of need.
The session began with individual speaking drills, allowing each student to practice using words they were familiar with in structured sentences. Following this, group activities were introduced, including interactive worksheets that encouraged collaborative learning and engagement. These activities aimed to reinforce vocabulary retention and foster a supportive learning environment where students felt comfortable expressing themselves in English.
As part of the solution, the session also included a reteaching component, where previously introduced words that students struggled with were revisited and reinforced. Additionally, new vocabulary words were introduced, and students were encouraged to actively use them in sentences to familiarize themselves with their meanings and proper usage. By the end of the session, there was a noticeable improvement in the students' confidence and proficiency in both vocabulary and speaking skills, laying a strong foundation for their ongoing language development.
