Student-Suggested Clinical Site or Preceptor Policy
As a courtesy, the program will allow students to suggest a clinical site or preceptor for consideration. Such suggestions are optional and not required for any student. Student-suggested clinical sites or preceptors must meet the following criteria:
Suggested clinical sites or preceptors must allow the student an opportunity to meet all learning outcomes associated with the applicable SCPE type.
Suggested clinical sites or preceptors must occur with either a physician who is specialty board-certified in their area of instruction or an NCCPA-certified physician assistant, who is licensed to practice at the clinical site.Â
An affiliation agreement must be present between Lipscomb University and all affiliated clinical sites/preceptors. A student is not permitted to go to any site or with any preceptor that does not have an affiliation agreement in place with Lipscomb University. Affiliation agreements may be initiated as part of the student suggestion process.
Suggested preceptors and sites must satisfy all programmatic and ARC-PA standards.
Student-suggested clinical sites and preceptors will be reviewed, evaluated, and approved for educational suitability by the program. Student suggestions do not guarantee placement. The program reserves the right to deny any placement if the site/preceptor does not meet programmatic, educational, or accreditation-related standards.
Student-suggested clinical sites and preceptors should be submitted via the Site Prospector module in Core ELMS system. Filling out this form does not guarantee approval and utilization of this potential rotation. All preceptors and sites must meet accreditation and programmatic standards to be approved. This process is offered as a courtesy to the student but, again, is not expected or required. Early submission of this form is strongly encouraged and will not be considered less than 4 months prior to the beginning of the clinical year.
