Student Employment Policies

Prohibition of Work for the Program

In accordance with the ARC-PA Standards, Lipscomb PA students will not be required or allowed to work for the program in any capacity. Moreover, students will not function as instructional faculty, clinical staff, or administrative staff. This policy is inclusive of all aspects of the program, including both the didactic and clinical phases.

Working While in the PA Program

The School of Physician Assistant Studies actively discourages employment while courses are in session. The program cannot take outside employment or activities into account when scheduling classes, examinations, reviews, clinical rotations, individual course functions or special projects. These program related activities will not be postponed, changed or missed due to a student’s work schedule. Students may occasionally be expected to attend evening or weekend sessions.

Lipscomb PA students working in a health care setting must never identify themselves as a physician assistant. Students should never proclaim to be an official representative from Lipscomb University or the PA program while working.  Lipscomb scrubs, uniforms, white coats, patches or name tags may never be worn outside of program related activities. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary actions up to and including possible dismissal from the program.
