SCPE Scheduling Policy

Scheduling of supervised clinical practice experiences is the responsibility and occurs at the sole discretion of the Director of Clinical Education. As a courtesy, students may be allowed to indicate preferences or request specific sites, preceptors, or SCPEs; however, preferences or requests are not guaranteed and will be subject to preceptor/site availability, SCPE timing, and other such variables.

In an effort to facilitate fair practices in scheduling, the program utilizes algorithm-based scheduling that accounts for student preferences and other variables. Such schedules may be adjusted to accommodate for programmatic needs. All schedules provided to students should be viewed as tentative. The PA Program maintains the right to make rotation changes when necessary to allow for unexpected events and other needs as they arise. 

Although the program makes efforts to consider student preferences, housing, and travel volunteers when scheduling SCPEs, it may be necessary for students to travel to distant sites for clinical rotations. All costs of travel and housing in such instances will remain the responsibility of the student.
