SCPE Security & Personal Safety Policy
In conjunction with the School of Physician Assistant Studies, Lipscomb University is dedicated to the security and personal safety of all PA students in all locations where instruction occurs. As such, the program has defined policy and reporting procedures for clinical year students.
All clinical sites are initially evaluated for security and personal safety concerns via initial application and subsequent updates every three years thereafter. Additionally, the program evaluates security and personal safety on an ongoing basis at the completion of each rotation via the Student Evaluation of SCPE Preceptor and Clinical Site.
In the unfortunate circumstance where a Lipscomb PA student has concern for or otherwise involved in an incident relating to security or personal security, the student should follow the procedures outlined herein:
If possible, remove yourself from the situation to a safe and secure location.
If warranted, contact the local authorities.
Immediately report the incident to the supervising preceptor and follow the facility-established protocol for incidents.

If the incident occurs after regular office hours, contact Lipscomb Security at 615-966-7600.
Complete and submit the SCPE Incident Form to the Director of Clinical Education within 24 hours of the occurrence.
In the event that the incident involves an injury or issue of liability, the student should follow the procedures documented below:
In the case of an injury, contact emergency medical services or report to your nearest healthcare facility for evaluation and treatment as warranted.
Immediately report the incident to the supervising preceptor and follow the facility-established protocol applicable to the incident type.
Complete and submit the SCPE Incident Form to the Director of Clinical Education within 24 hours of the occurrence.
If the incident involves an injury related to exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, please refer to the Infectious & Environmental Hazards Policy for further other procedures.
