Mistreatment

The School of Physician Assistant Studies believes in the right of every student to have access to a learning environment that is free from mistreatment in any form. Mistreatment, whether defined as discrimination, sexual harassment, unprofessional relationships, abuse of authority, or abusive/intimidating behavior, will not be tolerated. As such, the program has endeavored to create policies that support the primacy of the student and protect their rights as learners. These policies shall serve to protect the student, whether on campus or at supervised clinical practice experiences.

Students, who perceive any form of mistreatment, should report the incident(s) immediately. Reporting should not be delayed due to concerns over retribution, clinical site displacement, delay of graduation, or other such related fears.

Students will report concerns regarding mistreatment through the Mistreatment Reporting Form, which is available online. The report is considered confidential but not anonymous.  The results of the report will be sent directly to the Program Director and the Director of Student Affairs.

Upon receipt of such a report, the program will officially conduct an inquiry regarding allegations of mistreatment involving all applicable and pertinent parties in order to seek an appropriate and amicable solution.

Alternatively, the student may also report perceived mistreatment directly to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences in writing if they feel that their concerns may not be or have not been handled with impartiality.
