Student Identification Policy

Physician assistant students must wear the approved Lipscomb University School of Physician Assistant Studies long-sleeved white lab coat when directed by the program. The lab coat must have the official Lipscomb University Physician Assistant Program patch affixed to the left sleeve as well as the student’s full name and the credentials PA-S embroidered on the coat. 

All physician assistant students should wear their Lipscomb University School of Physician Assistant Studies picture ID at all times while in the program. While at the clinical rotation, physician assistant students must be easily identifiable to distinguish them from physicians, medical students, other health profession students, and graduates. Additionally, students may be required to use site-specific identification such as picture IDs or name badges, and they must comply with these requirements.

All physician assistant students must always identify themselves as  “physician assistant student” to avoid confusion with a licensed professional. They must never identify themselves as a graduate physician assistant, physician, medical student, resident, or any other type of medical professional. While in the program, students must not use any previously earned titles (i.e., PhD, RN, EMT, etc.) to avoid confusion.
