This article outlines the actions that IT support can take to ensure that your Linewize Online Wellbeing platform is optimally configured for the start of a new school year. This is a reference guide only. Some checklist items may not apply to your school.
Linewize Filter Start of Year Maintenance Checklist
If you’re uncertain about accomplishing any items on this checklist or don’t know if they need to be done at your school, please speak to Linewize Support for more information and assistance.
Using the Linewize filter allows IT Admin to set policies to be locked or unlocked.
Unlocked policies allows teachers to allow or block sites under those policies while using Classwize with their students. For example: the district blocks Youtube, but leaves it as an unlocked policy. Using the Rules function in Classwize, a teacher can unblock Youtube while their Classwize class is in session.
Locked policies are just that - locked in that position. Block and locked policies are great for any sites that you do not want students to access at any time. Allow and locked policies also work for sites that are needed for the network to function.
It is not recommended you allow and lock educational sites or sites teachers may want to exclude from their classroom using Classwize. If you allow and lock a site, like Google Classroom, when a teacher puts students into a Focus session, it won't be blocked for the students' access.
It is recommended you leave sites that teachers may want to restrict access to during Focus sessions in the unlocked position in the filter.
You can use the blocked apps page to search apps that may be blocked by mistake.
Under the Cyber Safety category click on Blocked. Then choose Apps on the top right. From there you can search an application/site to check if it is blocked.
