Classroom Manager has a number of powerful features designed to make it easier for teachers to manage their classes. Here are some considerations when configuring Classroom Manager for your district.
Allow Creation: Allowing teachers and other staff members to create ad-hoc local classrooms gives them the flexibility to group students outside of their pre-configured classes. Reasons may include: make-up exam groups, differentiated learning groups and more.
Reporting: Reporting allows teachers to have access to the student journey data they will need to support and guide their students when making choices online. Teachers can create Screenshot History Reports and Student Journey Reports to help them facilitate learning in their classrooms.
Chat and Announcement: Teachers can send simple messages via announcement or have two-way conversations via chat with students. This allows teachers to discreetly re-direct students and give students a comfortable place to ask questions they normally may not ask in front of their peers.
Focus: When teachers want their students to center their attention on very specific sites, but also eliminate the opportunity for students to open other sites that would cause distraction, they can use the Focus feature. The Focus feature opens the sites the teacher lists for use and blocks the students from accessing all other sites. It creates a great, focused container for learning.
Rules: Classroom Manager Rules lets students in class access sites that are normally blocked by the school’s internet filtering policies, and to stop students from accessing sites that are normally allowed.
The other Classroom Manager features can be found described here.
Having the Linewize Filter allows teachers to use Classroom Manager rules to override filtering policies that are in the unlocked position in the filter. This lessens the number of requests to the IT teams to allow sites that are typically blocked for students. Ex. District blocks Cool Math Games for all students in the filter, but leaves the rule in the unlocked position. This gives teachers the ability to allow Cool Math Games in their classroom while using Classroom Manager without having to request access from the IT team.
For your users to see the full benefits of using Classroom Manager, we recommend your users watch the On Demand Classroom Manager User training video in its entirety. The video shares specific use-case scenarios that shares insights with the teachers on how to use the tools and features in their own classrooms with their students.
After viewing the video, it is recommended users have access to the Linewize Learning Resources site for continuing support of the solution and its functionality.
