Job Summary:

To implement the project activities in a systematic way in the field area and take all the relative supportive measures at office level, build relationship with the line departments and other civil society organizations following the LHDP philosophy, policies and strategies in a coherent way so that partner communities may be able to solve their common problems.

Description

The position holder should be providing his/her services as overall manager of the project: Strengthening Resilience to Natural Disaster of most Vulnerable Populations through Increased Disaster Preparedness and Nutrition Sensitive Emergency Assistance, District Badin – Sindh, Pakistan. The Project Manager will be working under the direct supervision of Manager - Programmes and close coordination of M&E, Finance, Admin & Logistic Section and other Project Staff. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for project planning and execution, monitoring of the project interventions. This position needs an strong skills of coordination at different levels i.e. within organization, multi-stakeholders at district, provincial and national level. This is a multi-tasking job; Project's innovation management, quality, sustainability and impact measurement would be key tasks to this position.


Major Responsibilities

· Develop Project Implementation Plan, ToRs, MoUs, Agreements for project team and other stakeholders including partner communities

· Support field staff in conducting baseline survey and formation of Community Organizations (COs), Farmer Field Schools for Men and Women

· Take lead role in conducting different events like Trainings and Consultative Workshops

· Coordinate DRR Forum – Badin and Sindh Chapter for taking up the influencing agenda for provincial level tasks

· Support social mobilization team in developing field mobilization strategy in accordance with the proposed methodology of project and donor guidelines

· Identify and Coordinate relevant stakeholders for organizing training of Community Livestock Extension Workers

· Support Agriculture Officer in development of strategy and tools for

Drought resistant Demonstration Plots and Kitchen Gardening Models

· Facilitate and coordinate different consultants including Trainers in development of training materials and conducting trainings at local level

· Coordination with relevant Key Actors i.e. Agriculture (Extension and Livestock), District Administration, DDMA, Media, Banks, Irrigation Department etc...

· Ensure strategic direction of project operations, day- to- day management and delivery of the project’s components

· Preparation of Periodic Reports (Qualitative and Quantitative) internal and external

· Support other project staff in preparation of Monthly and Weekly Implementation Plan and reports

· Conducting Monthly Review Meetings, preparation of Meetings Minutes and sharing with Management

· Facilitate Media and Communication Staff in preparation of IEC Material, collecting material for Quarterly Newsletter, “Megh” and other media related activities

· Ensure the integration of cross-cutting issues, such as gender, conflict resolution, human rights, poverty alleviation, nutrition and land reforms, into the design, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation of the project

· Manage and monitor identified project risks and update the status of these risks in a timely manner

· Plan, organize, attend and report on Government meetings and act as a liaison between communities and Government departments; undertake follow-up meetings where necessary

· Ensure financial reports are prepared in accordance with organizational internal requirements and donor requirements

· Undertake budget allocation and ensure fiscal responsibility at every level of project management;

Qualifications:

The following requirement for this position

Academic Qualification and Experience:

Master in relevant disciplines like Development Studies, Agriculture, Sociology, Social Work, Economics with at least four years of relevant experience as project head

or

Bachelors in relevant disciplines like Development Studies, Agriculture, Sociology, Social Work, Economics with at least six years of relevant experience as project head

Skills needed:

· Good Understanding of Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation, especially in context of drought

· Sound knowledge of relevant local/national policies, strategies and international frameworks and standards

· Sound Knowledge on integration of Nutrition into drought resilience work

· Sound knowledge and experience on Climate Smart Agriculture and Drought Resilient Livestock Management

· Sound knowledge of issues of smallholder farmers and drought prone areas

· Proficiency on Computer and Computer based software like: MS-Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Access)

· Good knowledge of Organizational Procedures and Policies

· Good Knowledge of Communications Strategies

· Excellent Coordination and Correspondence Skills

· Good Mobilization and Sensitizations Skills

Main Internal contacts:

PM will be coordinating with LHDPs Finance, Logistic, Admin and Programme Teams including Agriculture Officer, Livestock Officer, M&E Officer, Reporting Officer and Social Mobilizers. S/he will directly reports to Manager - Programmes and will follow the organization’s functional chart/organogram, as well as the project’s organogram.

External Contacts

The position holder will be communicating project related work with the ACF in Pakistan, when and where required. Further, the PM will be in-touch with other key actors at district, national and international level as per the need of project.
