Description

The position holder will working under the direct supervision of the Project Manager to implement the project interventions related to coordination, practice, capacity building on Technical (Agricultural) Aspects. According to the project need the Agriculture Officer will work closely with the partner Communities Organizations, Farmer Field schools and the line departments for facilitation of project actions. This is an independent position, which prefers candidate with skills of relations building, strategic planning, design and support field staff in implementation of agricultural field activities.

Major Responsibilities

· Develop Demonstration Plots of different vegetables, crop varieties with the use of environmental friendly input use.

· Identify Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture Methods and develop Climate Sensitive Agriculture Manual for communities

· Provide trainings to local farmers on environment friendly agriculture techniques

· Facilitate community trainings modern irrigation techniques

· Support and Guide field teams to conduct information session on Agricultural Planning, CCA, Ecosystem base DRR

· Establishment of Demonstration plot applying climate smart agriculture techniques

· Develop Manual, Guiding Materials for different trainings and sessions for small farmers

· Plan, Arrange and organize Technical and Skill Development trainings for Smallholder farmers and their groups, associations

· Conduct Trainings on Management, preservation and storage, Market and Value Chain of different seeds.

· Development of farmers’ cropping calendar in the context of climate change and integration with agriculture and irrigation departments.

· Extent and relevance of experience in preparation, evaluation and supervision of agricultural activities.

· Demonstrated experience with the design and implementation of the impacts of agricultural interventions.

· Prepare and design different materials for newsletter and BCC Material

· Facilitate Kitchen Gardening Trainings of women member of partner communities

· Facilitate Linkages between community and other stakeholders (Media, Line Departments, Coastal Development Authority, and DDMA etc.

· Liaison with agriculture department at district level

· Overall technical support for agriculture and food security activities, capacity building and training delivery for target communities,

· Coordinate with Agriculture University, Experts, Agriculture Department, Consultants and other relevant stakeholder for achievement of timely, appropriate and quality output

· Preparation of Periodic Reports and Implementation Plan

Qualifications and Experience:

At least M.Sc in Agriculture Sciences or any other relevant subject with at least three years of relevant experience

or

At least B.Sc in Agriculture Sciences or any other relevant subject with at least five years of relevant experience

Skills and knowledge required:

· Hands on experience on Climate Smart Agriculture Techniques and drought resilient agriculture practices

· Good Understanding of CCA, Ecosystem and DRR, in context of drought

· Sound knowledge of issues of smallholder farmers and agricultural situation of coastal belt of Badin

· Expertise on Seed Production/Preservation, IPM, disaster resilient cropping methods, Soil testing/Sampling, Land use planning, Rehabilitation/Reclamation of degraded agricultural Land, new crop varieties

· Knowledge of relevant local/national policies, laws and international frameworks and standards

· Computer Skills, Ms. Office, Internet

· Excellent Reporting Skills

· Excellent Coordination and Correspondence Skills

Main Internal contacts:

The position holder will primarily work with the Project Manager, Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, Livestock Officer and Social Mobilizers. S/he will secondarily work with the consultation of Logistic, Procurement, Admin and Finance Staff, where and when required and will follow the organization’s functional chart/organogram.

External Contacts

The position needs to be in close coordination of partner communities at field level and other stakeholder including line departments, media persons and civil society forums/organizations.
