SCHOOL LUNCHES
We are fortunate to have a kitchen, run by lovely chefs, within our school providing children with fresh and healthy meals every day.
School meals are charged at £2.70 per day and MUST be ordered and paid for using our online payment system Arbor, via the parent portal or App (at least 24 hours in advance):
Our kitchen provides a bespoke menu for our school, based on LEO's rotating menu, and the daily menu is shown when you book a meal via Arbor. The menu is subject to change at the last minute by the kitchen due to availability and supply. Click here to see LEO's main menu.
If you child has specific dietary requirements please download and complete the form below and return to the school office. Without this the kitchen will be unable to provide specialist meals for your child.
Free School Meals - children may qualify for Free School Meals if their parents are in receipt of specific benefits. For every child who receives a free school meal the school receives a significant amount of funding from the government.
Even if your child would prefer a packed lunched it is still important we are aware of your right to receive a free school meal. You will need to complete a Pupil Premium Form.
Special Diet Request - please note, that since 01 November 2021 we are only able to serve special diet meals e.g. an intolerance to those pupils whose application for special diet is processed fully and accepted. Please complete the form and return to the school office.
School Milk - if you would like your child to receive fresh milk daily whilst at school please contact Cool Milk.
HEALTHY SCHOOL LUNCH BOXES
Research shows that when children eat well at lunchtime they perform better in class in the afternoon. Therefore it is recommended that all lunch boxes include...
At least one portion of fruit (e.g. banana, apple, orange, grapes, dried fruit, cherry tomatoes) should be included each day.
At least one portion of vegetables e.g. carrot sticks, cucumber, celery. These ingredients could be added to a sandwich or sweetcorn added to pasta.
Meat, fish or other source of non-dairy protein (e.g. chicken, turkey, ham, beef, pork, tuna, lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, hummus and falafel) should be included every day. (Oily fish such as salmon or tuna at least once every three weeks).
A starchy food such as any type of bread, pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other type of cereals every day (e.g. pitta bread, tortilla wraps, rice cakes, oat cakes) should be included each day.
Dairy food such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, fromage frais or custard should be included every day.
Drinks should be only water or milk.
An example of a recommended lunch box could be a chicken salad wrap, an apple, yoghurt, a low sugar flap jack and a drink of water
Special Dietary Needs And Food Allergies
We are sensitive to the catering needs of children with specific dietary needs, including religious considerations. We have children at Brookfield Primary who have allergic reactions to nuts; they require Epipens.
Packed lunches must NOT include products that contain nuts (i.e. NO Nutella and NO peanut butter).
WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL
School meals cater for children with special dietary needs and food allergies. Children can choose daily if they wish to have a school meal.
