YEAR 1

TOPIC - Toys

We are coming to the end of a very long, but utterly brilliant term. The children have shone and the progress we have seen in Kingfishers has been fantastic. Kudos to them and all they have achieved. They are resilient. They are kind. They are hardworking. They are (most importantly) so fun!

These last couple of weeks have been a bit crackers but full of so many wonderful moments. We would love to commend all the children in their brilliant performance in the nativity. Their singing and dancing was incredible! We are sure you felt as proud as we did. A real treat to get us all in the mood for our Christmas celebrations!

In the middle of all the madness of rehearsals and singing practice, we have managed to squeeze in some great learning!

In English, we have looked at a very sweet book, 'Lost in the Toy Museum'. We have worked on diary writing and writing in the past tense.  Despite being very tired, the children have produced beautiful writing and worked their socks off!

In maths we have continued our number learning as well as focusing on our reasoning and problem solving skills. This has enabled us to see whether the learning from this term has been embedded. The children have done so well and showed they are capable mathematicians.

In DT we have been making moving Traction Man books. We have a moving Traction Man, as well as a moving scrubbing brush. They are truly brilliant and wonderfully creative. A fabulous way to round off our Traction Man book, a very popular book!

We want to thank you for all your support this term. The class are a wonderful bunch who have really shone!

From all of us in the Kingfishers team, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year! See you in 2024 for more fun and frolics.
