Parent Partnership
Parent Partnership
To be successful, a strong parent/carer partnership is vital in school and it is built on trust. This partnership needs to be a two-way process and this can be achieved in a variety of ways.
Parents play a vital role in the education of their child. We acknowledge that the child’s first educators are their parents and aim to work together to build upon and further develop children's existing knowledge.
The introductory meeting for parents gives an opportunity to understand about Reception and ask any questions. We also look forward to meeting you on your child’s visit and as they begin in their time in reception.
In the autumn term, we plan to invite you into school to spend a whole session in reception to see how your child has developed and to discuss their progress. In the spring term, there will be a Home/School Consultation after school for a short discussion about your child’s progress with you and the class teacher.
Your child will have an electronic learning journey that will be provided using a digital learning platform. This builds a journey of your child's learning and progress throughout reception and provides parents/carers a remote way of following their learning and development. Parents have the opportunity to contribute significant developments in their child’s learning outside school, helping to build a holistic picture of each child.
An ‘All About Me’ project is sent home for you and your child to complete in the summer. This informs the teacher about your child’s interests and activities they enjoy with their families. This helps the teacher to plan meaningful opportunities to help your child develop their full potential.
At times there are worries and concerns at home. Sharing these with staff helps us to understand and support the child in times of difficulty.
When the children are settled into school and restrictions have been lifted, we welcome help from parents/other relatives in class. We are always looking for adults who would like to help with cooking, gardening, art, forest school and lots more on a regular basis, as well as reading.
Please let your us know if you are able to offer help and speak to the school office to obtain information about obtaining a DBS clearance (formerly CRB) and be informed about the school’s procedures relating to the safeguarding of children. If you are able to help in school, we will generally place you in classes other than your own child’s class.
