It has been another busy and productive week in Year 5! The children have been working incredibly hard across all subjects. In English, they have been developing their narrative writing skills by planning, drafting, and editing imaginative stories, inspired by Michael's initial experiences in our class novel "Kensuke's Kingdom." It has been wonderful to see them incorporating vivid descriptions using their five senses and figurative language to bring their writing to life.
In Maths, we have been focusing on subtraction within 1,000,000, exploring different methods such as using place value counters, number lines, and the column method.
Our History lessons have transported us back in time to 1575, where the children have been analysing primary sources to learn about Elizabeth I's Royal Progress in Worcester. They have been developing their historical enquiry skills by making deductions from these fascinating sources.
In Science, we have been enjoying the sunny weather and making the most of it by using sundials to measure time. We also went on an adventure to Mars using Now Press Play.
Finally, in Art, the children have continued to explore typography, discussing exciting plans for creating 3D maps.
