Last week we read 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' by Judith Kerr. We loved exploring the colours orange and black, where we used different materials such as paintbrushes, sponges, forks and different patterned paint rollers. We have been busy practicing to write our name and make marks on whiteboards, paper and on the floor in our outside area. In maths, we looked at creating and extending repeating patterns using different colours. In history we have been sorting pictures into whether they are from the past or are from now (present).
This week we have loved our story of the week 'Mixed' by Arree Chung, where the blobs mix to make new colours! The children have been practicing their counting by lining up objects and also crossing off dots as we count to make sure we count accurately. The children have also been working hard to know that the number they end with is the amount they have. The children have explored mixing the primary colours- red, yellow and blue to make other colours. We have been looking at speech bubbles and have tried to use our mark making and letter knowledge when we have thought about what the characters in 'Mixed' would be saying. We celebrated Hello Yellow Day where the children thought and spoke about what makes them happy as well as being kind to one another.
