This week in Tigers Class, we have been writing a persuasive letter to people living in Pompeii to encourage them to follow safety procedures and evacuate before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. In maths we have been using digital technology to assist with our lessons on subtraction with renaming. In science we conducted an experiment to find out which type of toothbrush is the most effective at cleaning teeth (actually a laminated picture of teeth!) We learned about how Christianity was spread across England during Anglo-Saxon times, once again using digital technology to assist in our research. We rocked the classroom in our ukelele lessons this week with the famous riff from 'Smoke on the Water'.
Next week, Year 4 will be exploring newspaper articles and finding out about the main features. In maths we will be continuing with subtraction - renaming thousands, hundreds tens and ones. In science we will learn about different animals, identifying what they eat by looking at their teeth. In art, the Jabberwocky will make an appearance as we start to illustrate words from the famous poem. In history, we will be finding out about Alfred the Great - what was so great about him?
