Year 2 have been having a wonderful time completing a range of science activities over the last week as part of science week. They have all had great fun coming up with predictions about what might happen as well as completing the task. Some of the activities that we completed included: dancing raisins, a cloud in a jar, colour movement in celery, outdoor gym and being plant detectives!
In PSHE, we have been focusing on how we can look after our bodies. We spoke about the different ways in which we can keep our bodies healthy as well as how we can help to heal our body, should we feel unwell. One idea that we discussed was through eating a healthy diet. The children sorted through food cards into their food groups. Year 2 have had a great time discussing the history of money and how it has developed over time since bartering was a currency.
Finally, we were extremely lucky this week to have an art workshop based on 'photography' by a company called Starsnappers. They learnt all about the studio equipment and the dynamic angle in portraits. They enjoyed becoming models in a range of different ways; theatrical Hat shot in which the children photograph each other and the ‘Hollywood’ Portrait; this was most difficult of the portraits to master but if they got their posing just right it could be quite magical.
